Awareness of Bereavement (1/2 day workshop)

Implement: 8 conversations about loss

This short session provides an introduction to bereavement and play, highlighting dlalanathi's process of training and expectations.

Play for communication (3 days)

Implement: Tell a story using a doll to a child and tell your child a story from your childhood

P4C invites participants to reflect on their own childhoods while learning skills for playing and communicating with children. Throughout the 3 day workshop they learn about the importance of play and make a doll.

Foundation play skills (4 days)

Implement: 7 sessions wiith an individual child dealing with loss

Forming a relationship with a bereaved child (4 days) This workshop takes participants through a process of addressing their own loss and bereavement while providing skills to support one child experiencing loss. Sessions teach participants about grief, healing, and relationship building with practical techniques.

Family Support (3 Day Training)

Implement: 9 x 1/2 hour sessions with your own children

Our Family Support workshop trains participants to provide support not only for individual children, but also the family structure. Emphasis is placed on the importance and validity of children's emotions, guiding caregivers through processes of listening, talking to, and supporting children.

Advanced play skills (4 days)

Implement: 8 sessions with a group of children

How to work with groups of children (4 days) Advanced Play Skills unpacks the rationale behind group work with children and guides participants through values and techniques needed to facilitate well. They learn how to create safe spaces and continue utilizing play skills for dealing with loss.

TRAIN-the TRAILER (a) (5 days)

Implement: Training with 8-12 participants

Training foundation play skills (residential training- 5 days) In the first of 3 Train-the-Trainer workshops, participants are taught the skills and techniques needed to facilitate other workshops, specifically Foundation Play Skills. Facilitation skills such as trust, limit setting, and respect of children's experience are cultivated throughout the 5 days.

TRAIN-the TRAILER (b) (5 days)

Implement: Training with 8-12 participants

Training advanced play skills (residential training- 5 days) Part 2 of our Train-the-Trainer workshops equips participants to facilitate the Advanced Play Skills workshop. It highlights the values, responsibilities, and techniques needed by facilitators who train others how to deal with loss.

TRAIN-the TRAILER (c) (5 days)

Implement: Training wth 8-12 participants

This workshop guides participants in their own facilitation work, which trains other to support families. Throughout the 5 days they learn additional play skills and activities, develop tools and respect for working with elderly caregivers, and how families are best supported emotionally.

Supervision Skills (3 x 2 day workshops)

Implement: Talking buddy & journal, debriefing process, peer supervision group

This final programme guides participants through practices of reflection on their work, enabling them to connect with themselves and others. Teaching skills that promote self care support sustainability for those in caregiving roles.

Child Protection Awareness (3hr Awareness)

The objectives of this process are to raise awareness about child protection issues and the need of every adult to be a duty bearer for protecting children. This workshop covers the following topics; it looks at the definition of child abuse, different types of abuse, the general impact of abuse upon children and the reporting process when abuse has been identified.

This process is recommended for any person who is working with children or who has children of their own and has never engaged in issues around child abuse. The workshop is simple and very interactive.

Child Protection Further Training (2 full days)

This training follows on from the Child Protection Awareness Process. The objectives of the training are;
To be empowered to handle an abuse disclosure, to become familiar with the reporting process and specific resources in the community and to secure support for themselves as well as the child who discloses.
The nature of this training requires that participants to have dealt with any personal abuse issues they may have had in the past and that they have a strong personal support system around themselves. Participants have to have completed the Awareness Process or show evidence of training by another reputable organization previously.
